What materials do you use?

Materials production generates the majority of the fashion industry's carbon footprint. For this reason, we choose materials with the lowest environmental impact, coming from nature and even waste, to create garments that do not put our resources and those of future generations at risk.

At Thinking Mu we use the BCOME transparency and traceability tool in all our collections, with which, with a simple 'click', you can obtain data on the impact on the planet and the people it has generated. the production of each of our garments.

The materials we use are:

  • Organic cotton: it is grown in fields of fertile land and alive, without pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers and is spun and processed without chemicals.
In cultivation, the cycles of the land are respected, preserving and promoting its fertility for future uses and 91% less water is consumed than in conventional cotton cultivation. And it is always non-genetically modified cotton.
The absence of toxic residues in cotton also makes the garment softer, more resistant and breathable, and reduces the possibility of allergic reactions.
100% of the cotton used in Our garments are organic or recycled. And 100% of the organic cotton has the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or the OCS (Organic Content Standard) certificate. strong>
  • Recycled or regenerated cotton: one of the most sustainable and respectful materials in all its processes, the result of converting cotton fabric into fibers that can be reused in new products textiles.
It can be obtained from clothing manufacturing remains (post-industrial origin) or already used garments (post-consumer origin). All our recycled cotton is post-consumer and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified.
  • Hemp (Hemp): It is a type of 100% vegetable fabric of organic origin. In addition, this plant grows very quickly and all of it is used, so there is no waste. No chemicals are used in its cultivation and it leaves the land in very good conditions for the following crops.
  • Tencel: latest generation natural fiber obtained from wood pulp, mostly eucalyptus but also pine, beech or fir. The result is a very soft fabric that regulates body temperature, is very resistant and absorbent. All our tencel is from Lenzing Group, recognized by the international non-profit environmental organization CDP for its transparency and performance in areas of climate, forests and water security and has been included in the annual “A List”. Lenzing is one of only twelve companies worldwide rated with an outstanding “AAA”.
Lenzing sources wood and dissolving pulp from sustainably managed forests and plantations and not from old, protected or threatened forests. Lenzing's biorefinery process ensures that 100 percent of wood components are used to produce soluble pulp for the production of fiber, biorefinery products and bioenergy. All of its fibers are compostable and biodegradable in soil And the water.
  • Refibra: a revolutionary textile solution made from discarded cotton fabrics and responsibly harvested wood pulp. This regenerated cellulose fiber is also from Lenzing Group.
  • Ecovero: It is produced from specially processed wood pulp from ecologically protected forests that is used to make soft and silky fabrics. This biodegradable fiber is also from Lenzing Group.
  • Recycled post-consumer polyester: produced from plastic waste collected in the environment, mainly in the seas and landfills, thus contributing to a lower environmental impact in its manufacturing.< br/>In the production of recycled polyester fabric, energy consumption, the emission of harmful gases (75% less CO2) and water consumption are minimized compared to the production of virgin polyester. Dependency on oil as a source of raw materials is reduced, and it helps promote new recycling streams for polyester waste. Our post-consumer recycled polyester has the GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification.
  • SeaCell: a new ecological fabric made by mixing cellulose from trees with Laminaria digitata, a type of brown algae. They are spun together to make fabrics.
  • Wool: A 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable fiber. Its production consumes little energy, since the lambs are raised outdoors, and when it is no longer useful for the animal or for people, it can be composted to fertilize the soil.
All our wool is from merino sheep from Italy and is certified RWS (Responsible Wool Standard).
  • Corn leather: fabric obtained from the fibers of the corn. The result is a very soft and light vegan skin. It is used for both shoes and other types of accessories.

All our dyes are water-based biodegradable and do not harm the ecosystem.
